Hanson is the world's number one producer of construction aggregates - crushed rock, sand and gravel. Worldwide the group operates over 400 quarries and 20 marine dredgers, producing around 230 million tonnes of aggregates a year.
In the UK, Hanson operates over 90 quarries and runs the largest fleet of marine dredgers in Europe.
Hanson's quarries supply crushed rock (limestone, granite, basalt and ragstone) for a variety of construction uses; sand and gravel for ready-mixed concrete and concrete products, and sands for building. There are also silica sands for glass making, hydro sands for filtration, top dressing and horticulture, and other sands for golf courses, gardens and play pits.
