Beam and Block Flooring

Beam and Block flooring is the traditional and cost effective suspended flooring system for ground and upper floors. Beam and Block flooring is suitable for use in both domestic and commercial applications.

The system comprises prestressed, inverted "T" beams, infilled with standard concrete blocks. Beams are produced to give nominal depths from 150mm to 225mm and are placed at 520mm and/or 295mm centres depending on span and load. The completed floor is grouted with a sand/cement mixture.

System advantages of beam and block flooringinclude:

• Fast and simple installation requiring no special skills. Maintenance-free.
• High levels of sound and thermal insulation and fire resistance.
• Unaffected by damp, rot or vermin.
• Allows longer spans than timber joists.
• Ideal for use on sloping ground; enables a safe level ground floor platform to be quickly established.
