The Hanson EcoHouse™ brings together the latest developments in off-site masonry construction, thermal mass and natural ventilation, in the context of the Government's voluntary Code for Sustainable Homes, introduced in April 2007.

Addressing the key issues of climate change, carbon efficiency and sustainable masonry, the build process and systems used in the construction of the EcoHouse™, ensure a flexible range of practical and environmental solutions.

Launched at the Offsite 2007 Exhibition at the BRE, Watford, and designed as a 3 bed detached dwelling, the EcoHouse™has been constructed alongside Hanson's first concept house, to demonstrate the progress made in the intervening two years.

State of the art systems

The EcoHouse is constructed using the Hanson QuickBuild™ walling system, an innovative factory fabricated brick and block cavity wall, with high performance bonding mortar. This controlled factory environment brings the benefits of high quality and speed of construction with little or no site wastage. The process is also less susceptible to weather delays compared to on-site construction.
