Find the Golden brick
Hanson Building Products has launched an exciting competition, to challenge builders to ‘Find the Golden Brick.' This initiative, which runs throughout 2008, recognises the significant contribution this well respected brand continues to make to the UK building industry.

Taking up Hanson's London Brick challenge couldn't be easier. Five ‘golden' bricks are hidden inside five different packs of London bricks. The customers who find the bricks - and the merchants who sell the winning packs - will be eligible for a range of valuable prizes. (Terms and Conditions apply)

The top prize is the trip of a lifetime for one lucky winner who will be off to Las Vegas in 2009. The package includes a return trip for 2 people, including direct flights from London Gatwick, four nights' accommodation at the MGM Grand Hotel, a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon and $500.00 spending money.

Another winner will be off to the 2009 Oktoberfest, Munich's famous beer festival. This prize includes return flights for 2 people from regional airports to Munich, three nights' hotel accommodation, and entrance tickets to the beer tent for two days. The final two prizes are a motor track day at Silverstone (or similar venue) for 2 people and two grandstand seats at the 2009 British Grand Prix.

The five winning merchant branches will each win a Premier League football hospitality package. The package includes lunch, drinks and three tickets to the match.

To boost awareness of the ‘Find the Golden Brick' competition and to support the promotion efforts of merchants and stockists, Hanson has produced dynamic A2 posters for in-store placement, as well as colourful A5 leaflets complete with convenient counter-top display dispensers.

Quality and tradition are synonymous with the 25-strong range of London bricks, which are still produced in the same way today. Particularly popular in the lucrative RMI sector, a number of London bricks are produced in Imperial-sized 73mm format, while Hanson's brick matching service ensures the best match possible in terms of colour consistency and weathering. Manufacturing equipment and processes are constantly reviewed and upgraded in keeping with Hanson's commitment to environmental issues and sustainability, and to ensure London Brick continues to meet customer demand well into its next golden era.

Hanson leads the way in low emmision deliveries

Hanson Building Products (HBP) has launched the latest activity in its ongoing sustainability programme. Over the next few months, a fleet of 12 new state-of-the-art Volvo FH440 lorries will take to the road to deliver aggregate blocks and Thermalite products. During the next year, this fleet will increase to 88 in total.

3 lorries

Featuring Euro 5 engines, these F12 rigid drawbar vehicles not only use less fuel and generate less in the way of harmful emissions: they also feature Volvo's I-shift automatic gear box, designed to improve fuel economy, and reduce driver stress and fatigue. Additionally, Draw Bar combinations provide improved flexibility, ensure easier site access and allow for higher stock capacity compared to more traditional delivery vehicles.

As an extra benefit to customers, all of the new lorries are fitted with the Volvo Dynafleet service to ensure constant, accurate tracking of deliveries. In addition, reverse manoeuvres are made safer at the point of delivery by a twin camera system displayed on the Dynafleet screen.

With the introduction of this new delivery fleet, Hanson continues to demonstrate its market-leading approach to the building products industry: not only do these new vehicles meet the latest emission standards - they are one step ahead of mandatory European emission standards.

The overall result for customers is a more efficient delivery process.

These brand new ‘green' lorries will be unmissable on the road: painted in Hanson's familiar blue livery, the dynamic corporate branding will further boost brand awareness and market presence.

Designed to support Hanson's current haulage activities and enhance customer service, this new fleet demonstrates HBP's commitment to investing in energy-efficient equipment in all elements of the supply process - from factory machinery to delivery vehicles.
