Hanson lending support to memorial garden refurbishment project

Hanson UK is working with a Costain/Vinci joint venture team to refurbish the memorial garden at Ty Hafan children’s hospice in South Wales.

All four areas of the company’s business are lending support to the project, which plays an important role in supporting the families of children that have died at the hospice in Sully, Vale of Glamorgan.

Hanson has begun supplying concrete to repair the boundary wall and will also provide sub-base materials and supply and lay asphalt for the pathways in the coming months.

“We are delighted to be involved in the project,” said Sean Hunter, major projects manager. “It is a wonderful charity which provides care and support to life-limited children. The garden provides a place for family and friends to remember and reflect and we are looking forward to seeing the finished result.”

The new memorial garden at Ty Hafan, which was established in 1999, will incorporate suggestions from those that use the hospice. It will feature an enchanted forest, outdoor shelters and edible planting for the children receiving care as well as an interactive water feature for the placement of personalised memorial pebbles when a child dies.
