Supporting the Calvert Trust

A team of Heidelberg Materials employees is kick-starting a refurbishment project in aid of the Calvert Trust in the Lake District.

The six-strong team is renovating the charity’s woodland bothy – a building designed for hosting overnight stays.

The Calvert Trust offers people of all ages with sensory, learning or physical disabilities, the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities, including abseiling, horse riding and archery.

In December 2015, much of Cumbria, including the Trust’s bothy, was devastated by flooding as a result of the storms. However, funding for the charity’s renovation works was diverted to other areas also damaged by the floods and the works were put on hold.

Now the charity is in a position to start the refurbishment project, Heidelberg Materials volunteered to strip the building of most of its current contents and fittings, overhaul the loft insulation and tidy up outside to return it into an attractive woodland retreat.
