Waterproofing concrete solution animations

Two new animations are available from Hanson to demonstrate the benefits and applications of our waterproof concrete systems. Aimed at specifiers, engineers and contractors, we offer three packages suitable for below ground structures, depending on the application.  Our flagship 'gold' system combines our Watertight Concrete with a waterproof membrane developed and supplied by partner Sika, to provide two lines of defence against water ingress. Avon Barriers Project in South Lanarkshire

Two abandoned weirs on the Avon Water in South Lanarkshire – Ferniegair and Millheugh – were identified by the Rivers and Fisheries Trust of Scotland as particularly obstructive to fish, as they close off large areas of riverbed. Following a feasibility study carried out by design and project management consultants Atkins Ltd, the preferred option for opening up these inaccessible areas to spawning fish was through the construction of fish ladders. Hanson extends RSPB nature reserve

A further 96 hectares of restored land at Hanson UK’s Needingworth quarry in Cambridgeshire has been handed over to the RSPB as part of a 30-year partnership project to create a wildlife nature reserve from a working sand and gravel quarry. The new land will double the size of the Ouse Fen reserve, making it bigger than 200 football pitches and setting it on the way to becoming the UK’s largest reedbed.
