2014 was the best year for our business since the start of the financial crisis in 2008 as construction activity continued to increase and demand for our products rose. We produce aggregates (crushed rock, sand and gravel), ready-mixed concrete, asphalt, cement and cement related materials. We are part of the HeidelbergCement Group, which has leading global positions in aggregates, cement and concrete.

Hanson UK is split into four business lines – aggregates, concrete, asphalt and contracting and cement – which together operate around 300 manufacturing sites and employ over 3,000 people. Read more

Hanson publishes 2015 sustainability report

Hanson UK has published its 2015 performance and sustainability report, which sets out progress against a range of targets covering people, carbon, water, waste and raw materials. Highlights include: Reduction in lost time injuries Fall in mains water use per tonne of product Increase in rail transport Increase in local liaison activity Over 90 per cent of quarries with biodiversity action plans There was a small rise in energy use per tonne as production facilities were reopened to meet increasing demand, but not used to full capacity. Energy minister opens Hanson solar installation

Energy and climate change minister Amber Rudd opened the second phase of a 13 megawatt solar installation at Hanson Cement’s Ketton works in Rutland on July 13. The ground-mount project, jointly developed by Lark Energy and Armstrong Energy, will provide around 13 per cent of the plant’s electricity requirements. Innovative roundabout claims CIHT honours

An innovative turbo-style roundabout constructed by Hanson Contracting has been presented with a top honour at the 2015 CIHT (Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation) awards. The scheme in Bedford is the first of its kind in England and improves capacity and safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. It received a High Commended award in the innovation category of the annual scheme, which promoted professionalism and best practice in the highways and transportation industry to a wider audience.
