Safety stand-down; putting health and safety first

On Tuesday May 26 all of Hanson UK’s operational sites, customer service centres and offices stopped work for two hours to carry out a series of safety-related activities. The initiative was part of our ongoing commitment to health and safety and was designed to get everyone thinking about their own safety and the safety of colleagues, contractors and visitors. New footbridge within Middleton Lakes RSPB Nature Reserve

Hanson UK, Staffordshire County Council and the RSPB joined forces on May 14 to officially open a new footbridge across the River Tame south of Tamworth, within the Middleton Lakes RSPB Nature Reserve. The celebration was a major milestone in the restoration of the former Middleton Hall sand and gravel quarry into a wonderful RSPB nature reserve. Local people can now enjoy walks across the valley from Dosthill to Middleton Hall, and beyond, using new public footpaths which have been created either side of the bridge to connect with the existing rights of way network. Hanson plans new entrance for Bath stone mine

Hanson Bath & Portland Stone is planning to create a new entrance to its Hartham Park underground quarry in Corsham, Wiltshire. The new site off the B3109 Bradford Road will include facilities for the storage and maintenance of underground machinery and the storage of stone blocks, as well as new office and welfare accommodation. The mine access will be on a shallow incline and intercept an existing underground roadway.
