Apprenticeship and graduate schemes and 5% Club

As a member of the 5% Club, we pledge to have a minimum five per cent of our UK workforce enrolled on formalised apprentice, sponsored student and/or graduate development schemes within five years.

We have already surpassed this target (10.5%, November 2021) and align our programmes with succession plans to ensure apprentices and graduates are offered the greatest opportunities for stable and prosperous careers.

Craft apprenticeships: provide on-site training and development for our future mobile and static plant operators, fitters, electricians and engineering technicians. Find out more https://www.hanson-careers.co.uk/apprenticeships

Learning Education and Development (LEAD) apprenticeships: designed to nurture our future managers, the scheme includes a fully-funded foundation degree at Derby University. Many of our successful LEAD apprentices go on to study for a further two years to secure a BSc (Hons) degree in Minerals Management, also supported by the company. “Roles within Hanson are often more hands on than most jobs but are much safer and friendlier environments than the common stereotypes suggest. The LEAD scheme provided me with a level of authority and knowledge that led me to develop a brilliant support network, allowing me to progress into management and work on some inspiring major projects.” - Emily Burridge - Area technical manager
